Old Campaigners (Cold and Wet)
Mitchell Jamieson #230a
Watercolor, June 1944

It is late evening of June 6, 1944. You have just lived through the events that the world will soon be calling "D-Day."

Though tired, hungry, and dirty, you feel it is important to take time to make a record of what you went through this day so that the world will know what happened here. Like the combat artist you saw earlier this day, you know that saving a record for history is as important as the mission you fight. So, before you fall into an exhausted sleep, you make your record of this day.

This personal memoir must include the following:

bulletInformation about you
bulletInformation about the battle
bulletInformation about your experiences
bulletDescription of your feelings
bulletResolution

Your personal record can take the form of a journal, a letter home, or even a newspaper report or an artist's sketchbook with notes, whichever is most appropriate for who you are.
